You might want to grab a cup of coffee - I've got a lot of catching up to do!

First of all, Hubby made this awesome seafood dinner the other night and I thought that it was blog worthy and it's my blog so - doesn't it look delicious?

Then, there was Father's day and that was where the cakes took center stage. -- we made a chocolate cake for my Grandpa B. and a German Chocolate Cake for my Father-In-Law! They both received rave reviews from their recipients. What about Hubby you ask? Well, he got a wood lathe a few weeks ago. Mostly it was an early birthday gift from my mother - the rest was a Father's Day gift from the boys and I.

Next, it was Grammy's turn to have a birthday which only means one thing. . . more cake! This one was white with homemade butter cream frosting. Bubby thoroughly enjoyed helping me make it!

Purple is Grammy's favorite color and I thought her cake turned out really pretty . . .

Bubby also had lots of fun making a birthday banner for Grammy, we put it in front of the door to surprise her when she walked in :)

We went to my my sister's softball game (she hit a NICE double!) then it was time for Grammy to blow out those candles. . .

We stayed all night after the party and the next day we had a great chance to spend the day with my sister. That doesn't happen very often anymore, because well -- she is in high school and big sister isn't exactly first priority SHOCKING I know! We went out for pizza at Great Plains and then headed to Coldstone for some ice cream. Note: it was way too hot out for pregnant me but I survived. After ice cream we went to see the movie UP, Bubby got to experience his first movie in a theater. It was really fun to watch his reaction, he loved every minute of it. Perhaps, the craziest part of the whole day was that my sister was driving us around in her NEW (to her) car!

The next day I guess you could say that we saw our ox barbecued in the middle of the street . . .

(in case you were curious)

Hubby returned to his regular job on Friday after substitute teaching all week at the community college to find out that he'd been laid off of work effective immediately! Wow, talk about your life being rearranged in a split second. He had only been working 32 hours a week for a few months so I suppose it didn't come from nowhere, but we were still blindsided. We feel like God has just barbecued our ox in the middle of the street, we're just waiting to see what He has in mind. Obviously, that old ox is no good to us anymore, but God has never failed us yet. We certainly don't believe that He intends to start now.

In effort to distract us from the heaviness of the situation my cousin and his kids came over to help us work on the playhouse today. We made great progress, it is starting to look more like the real thing all the time. . . good thing too because Bubby's birthday is right around the corner!

Is your coffee gone yet? I told you I had a lot to say!
