Christmas at Our House 2012

We had a delightful Christmas at our hose this year on Christmas Day. This is a switch from years past when we did Grammy's house on Christmas Day. In order to make Grammy's life easier things were exactly reversed this year and that is probably how they will stay for the foreseeable future.

Uncle Jack and Aunt Teresa joined us on Christmas morning and I really love having them be a part of our tradition. They certainly help us make special memories. I am a little sad that I didn't seem to get any pictures of them with the boys this year.

We opened stockings and gifts then had our usual breakfast of waffles, fruit, and sausage. After breakfast there was some time to play with gifts. Among the favorite gifts were a new DVD player for the boys to share, a fort kit for Elijah, and a fancy new (manly) play kitchen for Tollen. Both boys were actually pretty excited about their new sets of pajamas and Tollen got his long awaited pair of brown carhart bibs. Elijah's big gift from Momma and Daddy this year was a hard cover set of the "Little House" books. He was rather unimpressed at first because books tend to pale in comparison to shiny new toys, but he's really enjoying them now.

After playtime we listened to Christmas music and decorated our annual batch of 100+ Christmas cookies. Once the cookies were decorated I'm pretty sure that Elijah and Uncle Jack snuck away to shoot Elijah's new bow for a bit.

As I look back at pictures of last years Christmas am struck by how much different/better the house looks. Though it is still VERY much a work in progress a year has made an enormous difference, I am grateful.
