Hello World

I should, no doubt, start by saying that this blog came to be as a result of a sugestion by made by my midwife at my yearly exam. I guess she thought I could use it as a bit of an escape form the wonderful yet sometimes overwelming job of being home with my 16 moth old son all day. I'm really unsure about this whole blogging thing. It's not the writing part that has me scared, I love to write, and in some ways writing has been a constant friend throughout my life. Math and science were a real struggle for me in school, so I always felt a great sense of accomplishment when I could write circles around my 4.0 friend. I'd outscore her on papers that she knew I'd pulled together last minute and she'd just be red faced with frustration. Writing is wonderful, It has seen me though a couple of ex-boyfriends and more problems with my father then I can count. It's during the hard times that I seem to cling to writing the most, I think it's cheaper than therapy! That's not to say that I never write for happy reasons I'll give you a couple of examples first, I dated my husband for seven months and then he decided that he was going to go to Lima, Peru for eleven months with a student/missionary program. My writing skills definitely got a workout then. It was really hard to be away from him however, writing to him was a joy! One of the fondest memories I have when I look back on the very trying time we spent apart. My second example of writing for a happy reason is huge and it actually changed my life in a major Way. It all started when I heard a T.V. commercial on a local station for a "Dream Yard Makeover." Wow, we could really use that I thought, so I went online to check out the application. It required you to write a couple of essays on why you would be a good candidate for the makeover. I can be shy about my writing-- especially lately because I feel like my writing muscle is out of shape -- so I almost didn't enter the contest. After much deliberation about it and a little (okay, a lot) of prodding by my loving husband I decided to enter. You'll never guess what happened I won! By the time the work was completed in late July, you could easily estimate the value of my winnings at over 30,000 dollars! So to summarize for you, I am saying simply this, writing means a lot to me for a lot of different reasons. It is also important to me for you to realize that at least at times it's something I consider to be very personal. It is for these reasons that I am not yet sure what sort of things I will post here. I'm also not sure who will be allowed to read them when I do. Time will tell about that for now though, I am exited to have a forum to just write!
