Where Have All The Single Christian Men Gone?

I should begin by saying that I am happily married to a wonderful christian man--so I know that they exist. I also have several friends who are married to very nice christian men so again more proof they are out there. So if I'm already married to a wonderful man, and several of my friends are as well, you may wonder what has me asking such a question. The truth is there has been a recent event in the life of my very dear friend that has me frustrated. I guess it was out of my frustration that I began pondering the plight of single christian women everywhere. My friend whom I'll call Jane is single and dating -- sort of anyway. Clearly, I am not a man but I have to imagine that Jane is a catch for any man. She loves the Lord as the first love in her life. She is kind, loyal and a true blast to be around. Not to mention that she is a cute blond with a great sense of style. The problem is that she can never seem to meet anyone who can live up to her simple list of requirements. Firstly, she needs a man who loves the Lord as the first love of his life. Secondly, she needs him to be a leader in the relationship --to pursue her and call when he says he will. Thirdly, he needs to have a job and some kind of direction in his his life. Now, please don't misunderstand me here, these are not the only things that matter to her. Of course they have to like each other and have a good connection and such. It's just that these "requirements" are basics that she, and many other christian women use when deciding wither or not to date a man, or perhaps more commonly wither to go on a second date with him. Sounds simple enough but Jane has been struggling to meet a good man for a while. One bad relationship in particular left her confused and hurt after a man appeared to be something he wasn't. Jane is not at all the kind of woman who dates a lot of men. In fact she has been praying for her future husband for a very long time. She had once hoped that he would be the only man she ever dated. That, however is a very delicate balance because you can't not date anyone for fear they are not the one. It is true that the Lord brings people into our lives but he doesn't generly drop them streight from heaven into our laps. So we must pray for wisdom and occasionaly take a chance on love. Sometimes we also must know when to sit it out for a while, and just wait on the Lords plan to unfold. So just a few weeks ago Jane got a dog and had a talk with the Lord. That went something like this: "okay Lord I would like to have a relationship but I am content with your will and I'm okay by myself". Then a few days later what should happen? The phone rings, and a Man asked her out they have a wonderful time and he even meets her "requirements." The problem? He calls her a couple of weeks later to explain that he really likes her but cannot date her. He goes on to say that his heart is not yet heeled-- still broken over a woman he thought he'd marry. This brings me to my very bias conclusion about where all the single christian men are. I believe that a large number of them are getting their hearts broken by selfish, inconsiderate women who take them for granted.
